Good news for those addicted to Harry Bosch.

Very soon we will read the Spanish edition of Echo Park, the penultimate novel by Michael Connelly. Roca Editorial, which has been made with publishing rights, announces the release for 11 February. The price 20,19 €. The translation of The Overlook still take months to arrive.

Moreover, according to his official website, Michael Connelly travel to Spain to promote their works between 24 and 29 February.

Yesterday from my office downtown I witnessed a seemingly instantaneous thick black column of smoke rise from the hills of Echo Park. That smoke was the now destroyed home of Neighborhood Council Rep Larry Pickens. The family and dogs are okay, the house and Larry’s car are a total loss. No word yet on what happen, what we do know is they will need there communities help to get through this. Check back later, when we have more information we’ll let you to see how you can help. Have you seen the new 2002-2003 Silverlake (sic) Chamber of Commerce Directory of Members? Well what they say above is true, turn to the Map of Silverlake and look, all of Echo Park, Frogtown, Chinatown and East Hollywood have been absorbed by Silver Lake and only Atwater Village has been spared a similar fate!

In today’s LA Times Home section one of the Watch Me Watch You homes in the article was repeatedly refer to as being located in Echo Park when its true location, on Maltman Avenue, is clearly Silver Lake. Do you remember the days not long ago when anything east of Alvarado, all the way to Solano Canyon, was referred to as Silver Lake? Or even though some heinous crime was committed miles away in Mac Arthur Park or god-forbid Silver Lake the location was always described by the quaking news reader as Echo Park? Or when some brilliant event took place in Echo Park and the press always said it was in Silver Lake? (more…)

The Right Site Coalition

Here’s some background on the 9A site from the Right Site Coalition:

Margarita Reyes came to the U.S. in 1949, from Managua, Nicaragua and saved to buy her home in Echo Park 5 years later. She was 23 years old.

Gilbert Joves’ Grandmother came from the Philippines in 1976 and bought 2 tiny cottages in Echo Park that now house 2 generations of her family.

The Villanueva’s have 12 family members, 3 generations, living in their 4 unit house on Mohawk St., a cherished family home that was purchased with sacrifice and patience. (more…)
