They’ve set to date! The Echo Park Historical Society is about to produce its first-ever EPHS 2003 Historic Home Tour, scheduled to take place one day only, on Sunday, November 9 from 11 am to 4 pm

Titled “Restored, Remodeled and remade,” the Historic Echo Park Home Tour will feature homes in and around Echo Park in a variety of styles - transitional Victorian, Craftsman bungalows, Spanish 20s, mid-century cottage - in settings that range from humble street corners to hillside views.  (more…)

Echo Park saw the passing of an era this summer. For the first time in 92 years, a pair of cottages on Morton Avenue will no longer be in the possession of  Gladys Rice and her extended family.

The little house at 1704 Morton Avenue is known to many in Echo Park as the house from “LA Confidential,” the setting for a creepy film scene where Russell Crowe rats and finds a dead body. But for Gladys and her family, the property has been home for generations.  (more…)

Under this relatively new word means a new approach to production of goods which tends to reduce the environmental impact throughout the process of house conception.

A new philosophy …

Initially we must imagine a product made from recycled and recyclable materials. Its implementation should intervene in factories anxious to preserve the environment. As this product will consist of a minimum of parts it will be easier to carry, less cartons therefore fewer trucks, which affect pollution road. Finally designed to last longer, this product will prevent waste. While there is a fad course, but also a demand from consumers anxious to preserve the environment, and finally a positive image that want giving companies that adhere to this process. Beyond the environmental aspect, this approach has advantages such as the development of creativity and support staff such a program. (more…)
