More than five hundred people they mobilized this Saturday 21 of November in the streets of Bern, to de facto denounce to the Government in Honduras and the elections summoned in that Central American country for Sunday 29 of November.
The demonstrators, between which there were numerous Latin American residents in Switzerland, called to the Helvetica and European authorities, as well as to the international community to not know the elections summoned for the last Sunday of the month to which they caratularon of “illegal”, “armored”, ““undemocratic” neon-coup participants” and.
The march, that left from one of the central places of the capital, went soon to the Embassy of Brazil to conclude in front of the Embassy of the United States of America.
There, a telephone contact with Tegucigalpa with one of the people in charge of the Front of the Resistance, transmitted by loudspeakers, allowed the demonstrators to receive in direct from Honduras the last information.
In the same place a tribute to the victims of the Coup d’etat was realized of 28 of June, reading itself, aloud, the names of the assassinated ones by the repression. With an answer in unison: “present”! and applause in memory of the victims.
More than ever, active international solidarity
“It is our roll to be spokesman of whom they undergo persecution and to demand the respect of the human rights” in Honduras, it emphasized Karl Heuberger, person in charge for Central America of the HEKS, NGO of cooperation of the evangelical churches.
Heuberger, that participated in the national manifestation in Bern, considers that it is “our responsibility like Churches, Christians and people of good will to accompany to which they defend the human rights”.
The Honduran town “aspires to the freedom of expression and to the respect of the fundamental rights”, it emphasized.
And in that sense, “the originating expressions of concrete solidarity from Switzerland and of all Europe are comforting for the democratic movement and our counterparts in that country”.
Active solidarity with which Gerald Fioretta also agrees, member of the Association of Solidarity Nicaragua – El Salvador of Geneva, one of the organizations that the manifestation in Bern organized.
“It is our intention to give visibility him to the Front of Resistance in Honduras… It is very important our Honduran groups of comrades to know that throughout the world a dynamic solidarity exists that retakes its own vindications and it makes know before mass media and the Governments”, emphasized.
They demand “coherence” to Europe
Summarizing the echoes of the Honduran crisis in Switzerland and Europe during last the five months, Fioretta states that “the resistance of the Honduran town has been almost totally ignored in mass media, by the political class and the Governments”.
And it anticipates his hope that “the next week appears a motion in the Swiss Parliament forcing the Government to take a clear position in favor of President Manuel Belay and of the Front from Resistance”.
“He is essential that does not know the elections that the regime de facto summons for Sunday 29 of November in Honduras”, it questions Dieter Drüssel, coordinator of Secretariado Central America (ZAS), the one of the more active Helvetica associations in the denunciation and mobilization against the blow.
Druses anticipates its preoccupation by the attitude of Switzerland and the European Union around the elections of the last Sunday of November, to that it describes as “illegal”.
It is probable “that the European governments, as well as the United States leaves running to recognize the new coup d’etat mentality that will arise from those “armored” elections, fixed and with outlawing”, emphasizes.
“If it is confirmed such attitude would fall in a still more evident complicity with the Coup d’etat of June and its later process”, notices Druses.
Who it emphasizes, additionally, the “ambiguity” from the American Government in all the Honduras case, which constitutes one of the essential factors so that the crisis in that Central American country is not solved”.
Ambiguity that is expressed in the “rhetorical support of Washington to the restitution of president Belay… and, at the same time, in the acceptance in fact of the coup participants and its call to elections…”
And so it happens in Honduras, “the Obama Administration unmasks definitively”, emphasizes the coordinator of Swiss solidarity. Who proposes a subtle reading and in key of this aggression arboreta to Central America, right “after the electoral victory of the FMLN in El Salvador in March last, and right when the region inclined, mainly, in favor of an independent policy”.
The Blow in Honduras, insists, “goes in the line of the increasing aggressions against the DAWN, the active American presence military in Colombia, the destabilization in increase against the Sandinista government in Nicaragua, the military-political wall that try to construct with electoral victories of the type of which it occurred in Panama and which they hope that they are repeated in Chile, Argentina and mainly in Brazil”
Systematic violation of human rights
Although the numbers vary according to the sources, since the Coup d’etat took place more than 20 people were assassinated by the official repression, hundredth wounded and thousand lengthy ones.
Amnesty International, that it has predicted to send a mission to Honduras from the 24 of November, finishes sending to an urgent action in favor of the journalist Luis Glades that presents/displays the program “After the Truth” in Radio Globe and was threatened of death.
The aggression against competing mass media, is systematic and goes from the individual threat to the workers of the press to the straightforward closing of these means.
By the end of September, Amnesty International published a document that put record of the “increase of the police beatings and the massive halting of demonstrators, as well as of the acts of intimidation against defenders and defenders of human rights”, noticing “that the fundamental rights and the State of right are in danger serious in this Central American country”.
In last October, the Committee of Relatives of Prisoners Disappeared of Honduras (CONFIDE) presented/displayed its second Report entering 4,234 cases of violation of human rights reported by this organization, from the Blow to the 15 of October. Among them, 3033 halting, of which 475 victims underwent cruel tortures or treatments.
