Hollywood authorities arrested a man carrying the remains of two women in trash bags in the back of his van. Reynard Waits, to avoid the death penalty, life imprisonment negotiated in exchange for his revelations about other murders he committed, including that of Marie Gesto. That’s ten years that this case unsolved haunts Inspector Harry Bosch who never ceases to reopen the case.

The officer must then confront the killer to get the final word in history. But Reynard Waits is really the murderer of Marie Gesto? Harry Bosch is brought quickly to doubt it. The events are then sequenced so evil and intrigue to its full extent.

Opinion:
This thriller will devour. After a start that may seem long, the pace becomes more sustained and of action everywhere. Behind the basic story is interwoven throughout a series of investigations against Harry Bosch.

This is one of those stubborn police following his instincts and also pass rules for the purposes of the investigation. It attaches quickly to the character, his character and his relationships. This detective novel reads easily and for the delight of the reader.

Echo Park is the first of Michael Connelly me past the hands. After reading this, I only want to do is read other novels by Michael Connelly!

What got Roland Belloir waltz to send the comfort of his expatriate life of Thales in Orange County? Spacious house, generous salary, good schools for their children. “It’s boring. I liked what was coming to Los Angeles music scene, “he replies. More alluring than the gloomy corridors of the financial service group’s aerospace, in his view, the underground scene of Echo Park neighborhood of musicians from the City of Angels. Around Sunset Boulevard, next to the trendy Silver Lake, small concert halls there bud.

Increasingly known, these places of worship in the bohemian youth are still preserved from the crowd and pretend that fill the clubs of Hollywood. At Echo Park, no limousines or BMW brand new, exit the suit and tie, remember fifteen years in big business. Now part of a rock’n'roll scene at the corner of Sunset and Alvarado, this “perfect product of the French Beaux Arts: School of Business, banking and management control,” as he describes himself, features the style Local: long hair, jeans, sunglasses with plastic frames.

Such a metamorphosis was not built in a day. After two years in Orange County Roland Belloir breaks his expatriation contract. “Doing this is frowned upon in a box,” he said. Result, upon his return, things fester. A year later, in April 2009, Thales thank him. On the floor with redundancy and memories of Echo Park full head, this music enthusiast embarks on a project with high risk, extremely dicey. ” “When I was financial, I would not have supported a project like this,” he joked.

And for good reason, did not wait Fretted Frog (name of his shop) to get its credentials in the music industry. The most famous musicians live there. And not the worst guitarists. He knows for example that Ben Harper is just not there in the corner of Los Feliz arty. Competition is fierce among retailers of six-strings, dominant among the shops in West Hollywood that are Guitar Center, and to a lesser extent, Sam Ash, and those of the west side of Santa Monica and Westwood. Its advantage: it is only on the east side. In addition, it offers music lessons.

“I have studied the ground. I hope to attract customers in Glendale, Burbank, Pasadena and Los Feliz, “he said. He knows that Echo Park, the musicians are quite penniless. Moreover, his rivals have settled “where there is loot, not necessarily talent,” says he. He’s the opposite. Local artists “are living the shop with small concerts or just repair their equipment, but not buy expensive guitars.

Major point on which the Toulouse set to get a place in the sun: to be a specialist in rare guitars, sharp. In the jargon of guitar players, “Gibson’s not here.” Reseller acoustic, but also amps, banjos and ukuleles, Roland Belloir is betting on little-known makers of quality, the French brand in the Irish Lag Lowden. A long-term bet as if he has to sell a guitar a day to “live well”, he is still “far off the mark.”

Recreation and Parks staff has put the finishing touches on the reconstructed Echo Park Lake Bridge, completing their work an entire week before the 29th Annual Lotus Festival.

Deteriorated to the point where it was unsafe to cross, the bridge and island were closed to park users. In the interim, with the exception of the occasional filming or special event, the island has become a de facto bird sanctuary.

Recreation and Parks, Metro Griffith Park Construction Services crews under the supervision of Larry Mottler stripped the bridge of all its wood decking and rails, all the way down to the steel support structure. With pontoons as a work platform, the crew stripped the paint, rebuilt the wooden deck and railing, repaved the approach, and finally repainted the bridge.

At the urging of the Echo Park Historical Society several layers of red paint were peeled away from the steel structure to expose 4 or more layers of green, last seen over more than 14 years ago before the bridge was unfortunately painted red. The green bridge can also be appreciated in the 1974 film classic Chinatown.

By September it is anticipated that a new decorative, artist designed and fabricated gate will replace the steel bars that currently restrict access to the bridge and that the island will might be made accessible for special events or possibly during daylight hours.

Special thanks to Council President Eric Garcetti and District Director Mitch O’Farrell for facilitating the discussions between Recreation and Parks and the Echo Park Historical Society that resulted in a historically sensitive reconstruction of this Echo Park Landmark.

Additional thanks to the Recreation and Parks construction crew: Head Carpenter Louis A. Suarez, Carpenters Omar Vegas and James Shakir, Apprentice Carpenter Bryan Kelly, and Helper Jose Ramos.

The Right Site Coalition is encouraging the community to help stop the needless destruction of the historic homes on the proposed elementary school site known as Site 9A. The neighbors may have been run out of their homes with illegal threats and intimidation by real estate contractors working for LAUSD, but the historic fabric of this abandoned community still stands.

The Right Site Coalition and the Echo Park Historical Society are in the midst of a CEQA lawsuit against LAUSD that will not be heard until December 18th so in the meantime the school district is attempting to demolition the evidence before the case goes to trial.

Council President Eric Garcetti has said that he would not allow the closure of streets necessary for the school to be built; now we need him to block the issuance of demolition permits for the project. For background on the Site 9A fight click here.

LAUSD will conduct a public hearing this Tuesday, October 10 at Rosemont Elementary School at 6PM. (See attached PDF). Help support the preservation of part of the fabric of our community by acting today.

From the Right Site Coalition:

Hello everyone,

Please take a moment of your time and fax, call or email CD 13 representative, Council President Eric Garcetti today!

He must request a stay of demolition. The Right Sight Coalition has fought for over a year to stop the LAUSD from foolishly demolishing this essential part of Echo Park. Directly in our Community Center, it is full of historic housing and commercial uses. We need to show LAUSD that when you’re wrong you are wrong.

Enrollment numbers for 06/07 are about to be released and according to a Logan Street Elementary parent, the school was down to 742 students this year. That would mean over 150 less students than last year! Imagine how the other schools have fared.

Please support the Right Sight Coalitions fight to save this part of our neighborhood while preventing LAUSD from putting a school in an area that doesn’t need it! We have a trial date of December 18 for the CEQA lawsuit. Donations for the Right Sight Coalition may be mailed and made out to:

Here’s some background on the 9A site from the Right Site Coalition:

Margarita Reyes came to the U.S. in 1949, from Managua, Nicaragua and saved to buy her home in Echo Park 5 years later. She was 23 years old.

Gilbert Joves’ Grandmother came from the Philippines in 1976 and bought 2 tiny cottages in Echo Park that now house 2 generations of her family.

The Villanueva’s have 12 family members, 3 generations, living in their 4 unit house on Mohawk St., a cherished family home that was purchased with sacrifice and patience. All of them will lose their homes if the Los Angeles Unified School District succeeds in demolishing 50 housing units along Alvarado St., Santa Ynez St, Marathon St., and Mohawk St.

The Right Site Coalition is raising money to fight this proposal for a new elementary school and instead steer it to another more available and suitable “for sale” site. If the coalition’s efforts prevail, they will preserve dozens of historic housing unit–most built between 1900 and 1925.

Government bureaucrats are demanding the homes that Mexican, Central American and Filipino families struggled and sacrificed to buy. In today’s real estate market, where will these people go?

The school district is moving ahead even though local elementary schools are experiencing continued and increased decline in enrollments. Logan Elementary, the nearest available school, has lost 300 students since 2001.

To aid in this fight, give what you can to the Right Site Coalition today, by making your tax deductible donation to the Echo Park Historical Society, PO Box 261022, LA, CA, 90036 or online at www.historicechopark.org

Unfortunately this news is a little late for those who owned homes on the proposed Los Angeles Unified School District’s 9A Site. Even though LAUSD was well aware of this downward population trend long ago the school district used fear and intimidation to cajole these longtime residents from a total of 50 housing units. Now Echo Park has boarded up homes where a vibrant community once existed. Previously.
